WHO WE ARE
HISTORY:
Two Worlds Spiritualist Centre of Nanaimo was incorporated in 2008 as a place to develop our connection to Spirit, receive messages from those who have passed, find healing and inspiration as well as meet like minded, open hearted people and get uplifted for your days ahead. We strive to create more love, light and laughter in our lives through our services and community.
We have been blessed to have such extraordinary leaders and committed full hearted persons through the years and we have the deepest appreciation and gratitude to those who are keeping the light shining.

CURRENT STRUCTURE:
We are comprised of minister, board of directors, members as well as guests.
We rent our space for the services so we rely on our volunteers to help set up seating, podium, hand out song books, help with coffee & tea service, etc. to ensure a smooth flowing service each time.
If you want to do a small act of service ( and get to know your fellow Spiritualists better too), please step right up and speak with any of our BOARD members at any service...or just jump in ! Many hands make light the task , so if you have a little time to help please step forward and don't be shy!
BOARD
Every Year we elect a new BOARD, and this includes specific roles, as well as "Member at Large" positions - where the board member helps with either specific areas ( like the webpage) or projects throughout the year.

MEMBERSHIP
Membership is $25 / year and member's contribution helps to support our centre's operating expenses, our on-going charitable work , to borrow books from our extensive library, AND to receive special "member-only" pricing for any events we hold in the coming year! Please see the TREASURER to get your membership & enjoy the member only benefits.

We have a lovely on-site library , which all current members are welcome to.

In our logo you can see both the shimmering image of the mountains with the energy flowing around them - just as the energy of spirit and the souls who have passed are with us still. This is balanced by the sunflower below. The Sunflower is a symbol of the Spiritualist movement in Canada, as well as a reminder that while here on earth we should both enjoy all this world has to offer while also inspiring us to keep turning to the loving light of Spirit, just as the sunflower follows the sun.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT A TWO WORLDS SERVICE:
- Spiritually inspiring readings & address by the Medium,
- Music ( non-stuffy),
- Prayers to open and close the service and a healing prayer,
- Free will offering request,
- Hands on Spiritual Healing
- A demonstration of Mediumship - usually three separate messages. ( Which is unique to a Spiritualist Centre - we do not take on faith the continued existence of the souls of loved ones who have passed - the Mediumship provides evidence by bringing their messages through. These messages can bring profound comfort as well as inspiration to help us improve our lives here in this physical world by changing our focus.)
- PLUS coffee and tea and socializing afterwards.

The original concepts and wording for the 7 Principles have been around since 1871, and came through the Mediumship of Emma Hardinge Britten while in communication with the Spirit of Robert Owen.
Ms. Emma Hardinge Britten was a Spiritualist Medium and a highly respected and entertaining speaker on Spiritualism's philosophy. She had intuitive and mediumship abilities from an early age and besides being a musician, actress and orator she was an entrepreneur and author and not afraid to speak out strongly for her beliefs - such as supporting Abraham Lincoln and travelling as a missionary of spiritualism.
Robert Owen himself was also a very interesting character - a seeker above all. He was a Welsh social reformer, one time industrialist in Scotland and immigrant to the US - who came to North America to form a Utopian society.
The Seven Principles (with minor changes), are still in use today by Spiritualist Associations and churches throughout the world. At Two Worlds, we have also updated the wording to fit our modern understanding...but at the core they remain the same - extremely powerful words to live by. They are NOT commandments however - but guiding principles.
Spiritualism today
Today we consider spiritualism an evolution of consciousness rather than "Just" speaking to the spirits of dead people.
As we develop our spiritualism we connect with the greater consciousness accessible to us all. Through that connection we not ONLY connect to those who have passed, but also create more meaningful and impactful lives here and now.

Services IN PERSON SERVICES HELD
1st and 3rd Sunday of each month 11 am start time. We love to welcome new people - so please join us to experience the way of the Spiritualist. |
Mediumship
We have a Demonstration of Mediumship
during our services. We also host special Mediumship Demonstration Days, so check the schedule page or stay tuned via email and FB to be notified of our next event. We find that even when it is not one of OUR known "loved ones" who come with a message, there are many things that resonate for all of us, and it is very uplifting to experience. |
healing
Our in person service offers "Hands On" Spiritual Healing (with trained spiritual healers), a healing prayer, and a healing meditative-like session for everyone in the congregation.
We also have a "healing book" - where you can add the names of any persons/ beings/ situations to specifically receive healing energy. While at service please join us to send out our combined healing energy - to yourself and all others who you feel may be in need of this healing energy . |
